SPCA officials have chosen some of their finest pets, who are available for adoption and looking for a good home and new family to love. Among the animals spotlighted this week include:
- "Homer the Hound is a 4-year-old fox hound mix who's all about love. That's all this guy wants! He's a total snuggler, and is happiest when someone is petting or cuddling with him. He'd love a home with someone who's around more often than not -- and he'll make a great companion for all sorts of adventures! He'd also love a home with another dog or dogs -- after all, he used to live in a home with 15 dogs! Homer will make a terrific friend for kids around 10 and up." For the full scoop on Homer the Hound, come meet him or e-mail shelter@spca914.org.
- "Meerkat is a 2-year-old terrier/lab mix who weighs about 40 lbs (and who has an adorable habit of standing on her back legs to earn that name of hers!). She is an affectionate girl with lots of energy who loves the outdoors. She's great with most other dogs and playgroup is her favorite activity, so she'd love to go to the dog park! She'd be a good fit for kids around 12+ and would prefer not to live with cats. Meerkat has kidney insufficiency, which a low protein diet and blood work a few times a year. Meerkat's medical care will be provided at cost at our on-site Simpson Clinic." To learn more, please e-mail shelter@spca914.org or call (914) 941-2896 x11.
- "Dinky is a one and a half-year-old lab mix who is eligible for foster to adopt. Dinky is an initially timid girl -- but she attaches to people pretty quickly, and once she knows you she's down for all sorts of fun, like hikes and snuggles! Dinky would like to live with another dog or dogs (boy dogs are a bonus!), but she doesn't want to live with cats. She'd be a good fit for kids around 14+ and would love a home with a fenced in yard." To learn more about fostering Dinky, please e-mail trainer@spca914.org or call (914) 941-2896 x24.
- "Elsie the Shih Tzu enjoyed a day with our volunteer groomers today, and she's looking and feeling great! Elsie is around 8 years old, she's dog social, and she'd be a good fit for kids around 10 and up. She's a little afraid of men right now, and would be happiest in a calm environment." For the full scoop on this little beauty, come meet her or e-mail trainer@spca914.org.
